Fostering Kittens

Marlena and myself have been working very hard to feed and care for the orphaned kittens that have been entrusted into our care. It is with deepest sadness that I have to report that Knobie had to be humanely euthanized today. He was an adorable kitten and he will be deeply missed by his foster momma's.

Anita and Marlena,
I heard about Knobie this morning, and I am very sorry. I know you both did everything in your power to keep this little guy alive and healthy. This is heartbreaking work we do at times. It doesn't take long to become very attached to the needy faces that look at us every day--whether they belong to the tiniest kitten or the biggest pit bull. I share your sadness.

Rita thank you for your kind words. You are 100% correct about growing attached to the animals we work so hard to nurse, medicate, return to health, maintain that health, feed, exercise, play with, bath, groom. How can we not look at those sad and frighten eyes and not have our hearts melt. It takes alot of effort but we are rewarded when they find good homes. So it is very hard to lose a kitten that you have tried so hard to keep alive. I keep telling myself we can't save them all but we sure as heck can try.
